SofIA (Sonorities of Interactive Acoustics) Ensemble is a group of musicians exploring the interrelation between reality and virtual reality through acoustics. The group takes a new approach to ensemble performance by using specially designed interactive technologies and systems in performance. The members of SofIA (Sonorities of Interactive Acoustics), Matthew Burtner, Juraj Kojs and Stefania Serafin, are dedicated composers, performers and programmers, collaborating as an ensemble to articulate this new approach to music making. By building new instruments both virtual and real-world, and by creating elaborate performance systems using computers and instruments, SofIA has been recognized as a group on the cutting edge of electroacoustic music. Sofia started and ended in 2003.
